Running out of color options for events in Google Calendar won’t be a problem in the future. The previous limit of 11 preset colors has now been expanded to give users Access up to 200 custom colors For individual events via the native calendar app for web and mobile apps, and the Calendar API.
This started rolling out yesterday to users on Google Quick release domainswith an expanded rollout to more users starting June 29, though the update may take a few weeks to reach everyone. It’s available to all Google Workspace customers, individual Workspace subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts, and will be enabled by default, according to Google’s announcement.
There are now 24 default colors to choose from, but calendar users on the web (or via the API) can select additional colors using the full RGB color picker. Google says this update “fulfills a long-standing feature request” for more color options, as it’s much easier to see through the previous 11 color presets — especially if you use Calendar for both personal and work events. Now each event can have its own color instead of sharing it with other unrelated events, making it easier to scan at a glance.
