When the Nintendo Switch 2 launched in June, augmented reality headset brand Viture overtook Xreal with its multi-port battery pack that doubles as a portable video dock for the new console. Several months later, Xreal responded with a 10,000 mAh (38.7 Wh) Neo battery with DisplayPort Alt video output. It’s definitely one of the nicest batteries I’ve ever seen, and it works with the company’s own glasses dating back to the Air series, as well as the new $449 Xreal 1S, which was just launched. I’ve also got Viture’s Luma Pro glasses that work with it.
The Neo is available for $99 now and will be shown off at CES 2026. Whether it’s worth the price to you may depend on how much you use your Xreal glasses for gaming or on-the-go entertainment. Xreal Headset owners have already been able to connect directly to the likes of Valve’s Steam Deck or the Asus ROG Ally for video and audio via USB-C. Outside of the Nintendo world, the Neo doesn’t change anything except allowing you to give your device some juice while you play. You can play at a resolution of up to 1200p (depending on the resolution of the glasses) and at a frequency of up to 120 Hz. The Switch 2 can reach 1080p at 120Hz through the Neo.
This isn’t the fastest battery charger out there, but it’s faster than the Viture platform. The Neo produces up to 20 watts, which is very fast for phones and tablets as well as the Switch 2, but not enough to quickly charge some mobile devices and laptops. However, if you use the Neo to entertain yourself while it’s charging with a 65W or higher wall adapter, the output speed increases to 45W.
The Xreal Battery Base has a magnetic ring to allow it to easily attach to MagSafe-equipped iPhones, and it also has a kickstand in case you want to prop it up. The Neo has a short USB-C cable built-in for the video source you want to display inside the glasses. There is a USB-C port next to this cable for your AR glasses. Then, on the other side, there is a USB-C charging port.
It would be nice to have an HDMI port on the Neo — Viture’s Pro Mobile Dock has one, allowing for connection to many other types of gadgets, like game consoles and streaming devices. I too would have been fine with a slight Bigger size if it means higher battery capacity. But the Neo is a good option if you primarily entertain yourself on the go.
