Will the all-new Range Rover GT follow in Jaguar’s footsteps?

Range Rover has only shared preliminary, camouflaged images at the moment, with the GT still supposedly undergoing final testing, ahead of a full launch expected later this year. This means that details about this all-new model are scant to say the least: no price, range or power figures have been revealed. As for a release date, Range Rover has confirmed that the GT will hit the road in 2027.

In a statement, Martin Limpert, Range Rover’s global general manager, said the Range Rover GT aims to “redefine the grand touring segment” with the GT’s “poise, proportions and long-distance refinement,” adding that the electric vehicle will provide “capabilities that a conventional GT cannot match.”

Including the word “traditional” does some heavy lifting. Range Rover is likely to go to great lengths in the coming months to explain how this new all-electric Grand Tourer is not a direct competitor to Jaguar’s highly anticipated and eagerly awaited new all-electric Grand Tourer. Polarization type 01is intended to signal a complete reset for Jaguar, which will also arrive in 2027.

“We’ve spent the last few years obsessively working on the fundamentals of the GT formula, which has been reinterpreted in a sophisticated and uniquely Range Rover way,” says Limpert, adding that this GT, like its SUV counterparts, will still appear to be capable off-road. “The result is the most car-like Range Rover ever. A combination of effortless EV performance, first-class long-term refinement and all-terrain capability, it is pure Range Rover, while its interior showcases our vision of a modern luxury grand tourer.”

The GT’s rear has plenty of legroom, a central passenger screen, and a panoramic roof that tapers to maintain the grand tourer’s outlines.
