Katie Drummond, WIRED’s global managing editor, kicked off our discussion this time, telling us how a scam caller called her father and tried to scam him with a voice that sounded exactly like hers. Fortunately, no money was lost during this interaction, but it is a strong reminder that AI scams are not a concern in the future, but an issue worth considering now. Instead of using my bank details to help me financially, the AI advisors seemed focused on getting me to get high-fee cash advances or high-interest personal loans.
