The compact Volvo EX30 has finally arrived in the US — and with it comes more clarity on its price.
When it was Announced for the first time In 2023, the EX30 is positioned as a smaller, more affordable electric vehicle in a market overflowing with expensive luxury models. And it looked like it was poised to attract a lot of converts, with a starting price of just $34,950.
At the time, the only other electric cars available at a similar price were the Chevy Bolt and Nissan Leaf. You can also find a few used electric cars, or even a Tesla Model 3, but the idea of a luxuriously equipped (if stripped-down) European model for just under $35,000 is not unheard of.
today, Volvo announced The more popular EX30 model is finally arriving in the US. That would be the 422-hp dual-motor EX30, priced from $44,900 for the Plus equipment package (not including delivery charges). Upgrading to the Ultra package will cost $46,600.
That’s certainly more than $34,950 – and unfortunately Volvo hasn’t said when we can expect this more affordable version to arrive stateside. Given the political situation here, I can’t blame Volvo for playing too closely when it comes to EV sales in the US. The Trump administration is promising Less incentives, more tariffs — both of which will likely result in higher prices for car shoppers.
However, the EX30 has been a huge hit in Europe, with Volvo Recorded more than 100,000 sales A small SUV. In August, that was bested only by the Tesla Model Y. It stands to reason that US customers would react similarly — once they got their hands on it.
Volvo has two other electric cars in the US: EX40 is medium sizedwhich starts at $52,500 for the single-engine variant and goes up to $60,750 with all the bells and whistles; and Full size, three-row EX90which starts at $79,995 and goes up to $89,845. Delivery fees raise these prices by at least $1,000.
