Useful new technology upgrades old home ceiling fans with smart bonuses

I’ve seen a lot of smart retrofits and conversions of Door locks and Light switches. But ceiling fan conversions are hard to find and often outdated. in CESMy fellow Hunter Fan and I saw a new option unveiled: the smart line called HunterSmart, packed with options to make your existing device Home fans Smarter.

While HunterSmart includes a smart plug and Light dimmer switchWhat really caught my attention were the great voice controls for turning even the largest home ceiling fans into smart devices. If you like your current setup, you can use the HunterSmart Smart Fan Upgrade Kit, which connects your fan to platforms like Alexa, Google Home, and Apple Home for app and voice assistant control, without requiring any fan component changes or extensive rewiring.

Most impressive is the HunterSmart Smart Wall Plate, a compact touchscreen installation that replaces old fan switches with an informational display that can control both the fan and nearby lights with a single touch, serving as a mini display center for your living room.

Why is this? amazing (Pun very much intended)? Hunter Fan Technology includes impressively complete fan control options as long as your fan is AC powered. (DC support is not included.) You can control the fan speed, schedule the fan light, and reverse the seasonal fan direction on demand. With a Wi-Fi connection, you can make these changes from anywhere, including when you’re on vacation. (If your ceiling fan doesn’t already rotate clockwise For the winteryou must make the change.)

A new ZenTech fan from Hunter is on display at CES 2026.

This is smarter and more convenient than any fan kit you’ve seen before. It’s also safer and simpler than climbing a ladder to fiddle with switches and controls you barely remember.

If you’re more interested in a complete replacement of your old fan, I also think Hunter Fan’s new ZenTech smart fan line has shown an interesting development. Not only are they 40% thinner in the motor, but they now come in more attractive, blade-free, chandelier-like designs. Hunter Fan says ZenTech fans delivered 33% more air speed than competitors in 2023 testing, and they achieved Energy Star certification for their electricity savings.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any data on release dates or prices at the moment, but the hands-on demo is in CES It seemed pretty far down the development path, so hopefully it won’t be too long.
