“Tron: Ares” gets a release date on Disney Plus


Tron: Aresthe third installment in the live-action series, takes viewers back to the network that Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) first discovered more than four decades ago. The film features a mostly new cast (Bridges does return, albeit briefly) and adds a new AI threat to the mix, setting off a global race for survival. TRON: Ares was not a huge success at the box office; Would it perform better on broadcast? We’re about to find out.

Jared Leto plays the titular program Ares, who is brought to the analog world by Julian Dillinger (Evan Peters), CEO of ENCOM, for nefarious reasons. Greta Lee is Eve Kim, a rival tech mogul who becomes Ares’ target.

Jodie Turner-Smith, Gillian Anderson, Arturo Castro, and Hasan Minhaj also star. Joachim Rönning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) directed Tron: Ares, which you can watch on Disney Plus next week.

TRON: Ares will start Streaming on Disney Plus on Wednesday 7 January.
