This iPhone search bar hack makes navigating your call history a breeze


It can be frustrating to scroll through your profile iPhone Recent Calls to find the right voicemail or to remember the last time you spoke to someone. When Apple introduced iOS 18 And in 2024, a search bar has been brought to your Phone app that lets you find calls faster in your recent call history. And with iOS 26the technology company has made finding this search bar much easier.

The search bar allows you to easily search your call history and voicemail messages. Before iOS 18, the Recent Calls tab in the Phone app was a running list of all the calls made to and from your iPhone. But now you can easily search the list, so you don’t need to scroll unnecessarily.

Here’s what to know about the search function in your iPhone’s Recent tab. And don’t forget to learn about other features that iOS 18 brought to your device, such as Customizable home screens and RCS messages.

Can I search for recent calls on my iPhone?

Yes! In iOS 26, you open the Phone app and then tap the magnifying glass in the bottom right corner of your screen.

You can then use the search bar to search for a specific contact’s name, contact number, or dates. For example, typing “mom” or “dad” will display all phone calls and voicemails from your mom or dad, as well as their calling card. Likewise, typing “August” or “July” into the search bar will bring up all calls and voicemails from that month.

You can also type a specific date, such as “July 5,” which will pull calls and voicemails from that specific date.
