This app actually makes Google TV usable

I feel nervous Every time I turn on the TV. The tech giant is to blame.

Google TVthe Android-based TV operating system, is great in some ways: it runs well on your TV, there are apps available for every streaming service, and the interface is highly customizable. Comes pre-installed New groups From Sony, Hisense, and TCL, among others.

However, the default home screen is a mess. There’s a row of your apps, if you’re keeping an eye on them, but the majority of the screen is taken up by movie ads and shows some company paying to promote.

So I was thrilled when I found it AT4KAn alternative home screen for Google TV. Inspired by the Apple TV interface, this player only shows me thumbnails of the streaming services I use, and I can even turn them off if I want. It’s free with no ads; There’s a premium version that you can unlock for $5 and get some cool extras, but that’s completely optional, and the free version works great.

To start, simply Install the application on Google Play. You can do this in your browser on any device you’re reading this article on. Or, if you like, you can launch Google Play on your smart TV and search for “AT4K”. In either case, the player will be downloaded and installation will begin on your TV.

Everything in AT4K is completely clean. At the top of the screen, in the right corner, there is a clock next to buttons for app settings, system settings, and call settings. Below that is a row of tiles containing thumbnails of the shows you’re currently watching. Below is a row of five apps. Keep scrolling and you’ll find the rest of the apps installed on your device, as well as icons for your various inputs.

I recommend moving the streaming services and input devices you already use to the top of the list, so you can access them quickly. To do this, select the application you want to move, then press and hold the Enter button. You will see a submenu.

The Move App option allows you to use the arrow buttons on your remote to move the app to where you want it. Repeat this process until the top row includes all your favorite streaming services.
