The Oppo Bubble is a thin, round screen for taking selfies with the rear camera

Oppo has launched a new smartphone accessory that makes it easier to take selfies using your smartphone’s rear cameras, which usually feature better sensors than the front cameras. the Bubble offers similar functionality to Recently announced Insta360 Snap With a screen that provides live camera previews so you can frame your shots properly, plus remote camera controls and a shutter button. What sets Bubble apart is a slimmer design, wireless capabilities up to approximately 33 feet, and unfortunately, limited device compatibility.

The Oppo Bubble is currently available in China for 499 yuan, or about $73, but the company has not confirmed whether the accessory will see a global release. It features a round AMOLED touch screen with a 550 mAh battery, but is only seven millimeters thick. The company hasn’t specified the estimated battery life, but it should be charged through the USB-C port on the bottom rather than powered wirelessly when plugged into the back of the phone.

Some Oppo devices support wireless charging, but the company hasn’t released any with built-in magnetic rings for attaching accessories. To attach the bubble to your Oppo phone, you will need to add a magnetic case. The display can also be attached directly to devices with built-in magnets like iPhones and recent Pixel phones, but Oppo has only made Bubble compatible with a small group of its own devices including the Reno 14, 15 and 16, as well as the Find X8, X9, X9 Pro and X9 Ultra, through a companion mobile app. The company has not announced plans to expand Bubble’s compatibility with devices from other companies.
