WhatsApp on Thursday announced a host of features that will make it easier to move chat history to your next phone, free up storage space, and manage multiple accounts on iPhone. There are also several new AI features. The update is currently rolling out, and some features may already be available.
The most useful advertisement, in my opinion, is an update Chat transfer feature Which simplifies transferring your WhatsApp history from iPhone to Android phone. The process will now take place entirely within the WhatsApp app and will not require third-party apps or physically connecting your iPhone and Android device via cable. The transfer will instead take place wirelessly via a local Wi-Fi connection. WhatsApp warns that it may take some time, depending on the amount of data to be transferred.
This should be a more straightforward way to transfer your WhatsApp history between devices. I recently tried to transfer my WhatsApp account from an iPhone to a device Google Pixel 10a Using the old method of connecting the two phones via cable during the Android setup process, it failed repeatedly. Samsung’s Smart Switch app also offers a feature to transfer WhatsApp data from an iPhone to a Galaxy phone, but the built-in WhatsApp feature should make this easier.
As for moving Record WhatsApp conversations from Android device to iPhoneFor now, the process still involves using the Move to iOS app alongside WhatsApp.
The iOS version of WhatsApp also gains the ability to manage two accounts on one device, a feature already available on Android. This might be useful for someone who runs a personal and business account on WhatsApp.
The rest of the features are coming to WhatsApp on both iOS and Android, including easy access to deleting large media files from your chat history while keeping everything else intact. WhatsApp is also adding the ability to edit photos using Meta’s AI tools before sending, including removing objects, changing backgrounds, or applying styles.
The option for AI typing assistance is also being added to suggest responses based on your conversation, which is similar to the typing assistants we see powered by Apple Intelligence on supported iPhone devices and Galaxy AI on Samsung phones. WhatsApp will suggest stickers as you search for emojis, with this available as an option to add to chats.
