It’s also faster and more responsive, with an Amazon AZ3 Neural Edge processor that helps it hear voice commands more accurately, even if you’re speaking from across the room or over background noise.

The Echo Max also acts as a smart home hub capable of supporting Zigbee, Matter, and Thread, allowing you to connect and control a wide range of compatible smart home devices from brands outside of Amazon. It also supports Alexa PlusAmazon’s most context-aware, AI-powered voice assistant, which can handle multiple requests at once. This means you can do things like dim lights and lock doors without having to issue separate commands. In our reviewers’ testing, Alexa was also able to turn off hallway lights, adjust the thermostat upstairs, and start the robot vacuum in the kitchen all at once.
