The best meat heat scales for 2025

Heat scales in glass

James Beckenl/CNET

The most important part of any thermometer test is accuracy. We distribute these standards greatly when collecting entries to the best list, which are the most scientific in the tests. We use a medical temperature as a basic line for accuracy and testing the meat probe for that temperature.

Ice water test

The heat scale resolution test usually includes a cup and some ice and water cubes. Due to the nature of the water, it can be liquid and connected at 32F (0C) so that we can reliably get the temperature. By filling a tall cup with ice cubes and adding water – cooled water so that the ice does not melt – you can raise this water to 32F.

Then we include both the medical grade probe and the meat probe that we test and move it until it reads the 32F Medical thermometer. When that happens, we record the meat probe reading, we test it to find out what is contrast, if any.

Why not use heat?

You may think that the use of heat will be more logical. After all, these are investigations for meat barbecue, so high temperature is more important, right? Unfortunately, the heat depends on many factors, such as height and pressure, which we cannot always control. The freezing point in water is always the same, wherever you are, so that we can ensure independent accuracy from the site.
