The best Casio watches that you can wear anywhere

There are hundreds of different versions of the DW5600 on the market, each modeled after the first-ever G-Shock. It was designed by legendary Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe, who, after dropping and breaking a watch his father had given him in the late 1970s, became obsessed with creating an indestructible watch. No matter what type of movement you get (solar, atomic, classic, inverted – there are countless to choose from), each watch is designed according to what Casio calls the Triple 10 principles: 10-year battery life, water resistance to 10 bar (100 meters), and protection against drops from 10 meters onto concrete.

It goes without saying that this is a durable watch that will take a lifetime of abuse, as long as you change the battery (or get a solar-powered model). This essential G-Shock watch is the foundation of much of Casio’s reputation as the watch brand you buy for life, and there are many great versions to choose from. Mine comes from a collaboration between skate brand Preduce and a Thai artist, and is a limited edition that my wife picked up when visiting her family there. There are a lot of other great variables; My brother has a NASA one, and I have another made from ocean plastic for a charity.

All my DW5600s, which I usually wear when doing the dirtiest tasks in my life, still look great after a lot of greasy, greasy adventures, and have a timeless look that you can never outgrow. Just find the version you like, because in my experience, you’ll never stop wearing it.
