The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has Issue a summons for 14,575 Model Y vehicles due to an issue that Tesla was unable to resolve through the usual software update: a missing sticker. According to the recall report, Model Ys manufactured between November 17, 2024 and April 21, 2026 may be missing a weight certification sticker due to a mishap with an Auto Vision Scanner at Tesla’s factory in Fremont, California.
like Electric According to reports, the sticker in question is usually placed inside the driver’s side door and shows the vehicle’s maximum safe weight, as well as tire information and manufacturing date. Many drivers may not notice these stickers, but it’s important to refer to them when packing your car because exceeding the maximum loaded weight can cause safety risks (they’re also useful for checking tire pressure).
Tesla estimates that only 45 percent of recalled Model Y vehicles do not have the sticker. The recall report also notes that Tesla has fixed the automated scanning tool that caused the issue and its production teams have begun manually checking the presence of the sticker at the factory on vehicles.
Unlike most Tesla recalls that are simply fixed remotely, drivers will need to physically bring their Model Y in for an inspection to verify the sticker and add a sticker if necessary. At least this recall doesn’t come with risk The wheels fall off.
