Just two weeks after the update was released “Juniper” Y model in China And other Asia-Pacific markets, Tesla has I started taking orders In the Americas (United States, Canada, Mexico and Chile) and Europe. The Launch Series is the only trim level currently available for order in the U.S., offering a “fully loaded” setup with special charging, self-driving (supervised) driver assistance, and enhanced acceleration for $59,990 before discounts and estimated savings.
The refreshed version of Tesla’s best-selling vehicle brings new front and rear light designs, an updated interior with an 8-inch touchscreen for acoustic glass treatment, a new sound system with more speakers, and a reworked suspension. There’s no mention of it, but in a few photos (included in our gallery below), there also appears to be a turn signal stalk sticking out to the left of the steering wheel instead of projecting it to buttons on the other wheels like other recent Teslas.
It also has the same new front-facing camera that Tesla says adds “enhanced vision to create Autopilot and Intelligent Summon capabilities.”
Just like previously announced markets, deliveries are scheduled to begin in March. Everything is similar to Updated the Model 3 last yearpromising better efficiency and performance, with added power rear seats and a hands-free trunk that automatically opens on approach.
One difference between this and most Tesla launches we’ve seen is that the older version is still available to order, with the website inviting buyers to take advantage of the price drop while it’s still available. Of the configurations available online, the price difference between a similar long-range AWD model that was New and Old was only about $4,000.
The current version is, of course, available immediately, and choices for additional options, such as the Performance Package. , additional colors, or a seven-seat configuration. The new Model Y advertises a 320-mile range without an EPA seal compared to the old version’s 311 EPA estimate (until last year, The declared range was 330 miles Before Tesla suddenly downgraded) to a similar model. The 0-60mph time is improved too, at 4.1 seconds instead of 4.8, but the permissible top speed has dropped from 135mph to 125, which probably wouldn’t be too much of an issue in a family hauler.
