Tesla is adding “streaks” and other statistics to track how often drivers use its Full Self-Driving software

Tesla is rolling out a new self-driving app that makes it easier for owners to sign up for its Full Self-Driving program and see stats about how and how often they use it. The app will display information about the FSD, including multi-day streaks, and add a gaming element to the driver assistance program.

The system — available for a $99 monthly subscription — can handle driving maneuvers like steering, lane changes and parking. It still requires active driver supervision, meaning vehicles equipped with the software are not truly autonomous.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is trying to position the company as a powerhouse in artificial intelligence and robotics, not just a car maker. FSD is part of that mission. A redesigned self-driving app may not seem significant in Tesla’s attempt to push FSD adoption, but it carries some weight. Today, Tesla owners can opt in to FSD using the vehicle’s touchscreen or mobile app, but it takes a few steps to get to the right place.

The new app will allow owners to sign up with one click. The caveat is that the feature is only available to owners of Tesla vehicles with the A14 chip, also known as FSD Hardware 4.0, which began shipping in vehicles in January 2023.

The updated self-driving app will display a variety of statistics that go far beyond what Tesla owners see with FSD today. Existing FSD subscribers see the total number of miles driven compared to the percentage driven using FSD.

This updated application will display some graphics, including using FSD in a bar chart. It will also track and display user “streaks”, showing how many consecutive days the FSD has been used.

FSD (Supervised) is available in Australia, Canada, China, Mexico, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, South Korea, and the United States. Dutch organizer RDW approved Used FSD on April 10 after researching and testing the product.
