Tecno’s latest phones are neon lit

After teasing A Modular magnetic smartphone concept The other day, Tecno followed that up with two more phone designs centered around color-changing finishes: one with e-ink, and another that includes neon.

I’m most impressed with the Pova Neon, which the company says incorporates real neon lighting, not just bright colors: It uses “ionized inert gas lighting technology” to create a glowing effect.

In contrast, AI EInk creates colored electronic ink on the back of the phone, allowing you to quickly change the color of the phone. Perhaps most impressive is that you’re able to adjust the color using the camera, so you can make your phone match your outfit with just a click.

As with any concepts, there’s no guarantee we’ll see Tecno launch a real phone with either design, and it seems unlikely that the Neon will ever hit the market – but I can imagine a color-variable E Ink phone launching before too long.
