If you are a PlayStation customer and live in the United States, you may be eligible to claim a portion of the upcoming $7.85 million settlement payout. The case centers on the allegation that Sony “unlawfully eliminated competition and monopolized the market for its digital games” by stopping the sale of game-specific vouchers that allow PlayStation owners to purchase digital games from various online stores.

Sony denied that it was involved in any wrongdoing or that members of the settlement class were harmed by its actions, and the court did not decide whether the company violated any laws. Despite this, the court initially agreed to pay the settlement amount of $7.85 million.

If you meet all of the criteria to be part of the Sony PlayStation game voucher settlement, you will automatically become a member of this lawsuit and will be able to collect a portion of the settlement funds – added directly to your PlayStation Network account wallet – at some point after the final approval hearing.
Players who have deactivated their PlayStation Network accounts can apply for a settlement payment by submitting qualifying purchase information to their email address. info@PSNDigitalGamesSettlement.com. Customers with disabled accounts will receive cash payments instead of PSN account credit.
You may opt out of the settlement if you wish to retain your right to sue Sony separately regarding its game voucher sales practices. If you do not submit a written request to the court to opt out of or object to the settlement by July 2, you will remain part of the settlement class.
Who could be part of the Sony PlayStation settlement?
Not every PlayStation owner is automatically eligible. The money is reserved for those who purchased a digital game through the PlayStation Store during a period after Sony discontinued game-specific voucher sales to alternative online storefronts.
To join, you must meet all of the following qualifications:
- Be a living, individual human being in the United States or its territories.
- I bought one of Eligible digital games (PDF) Via PlayStation Store from April 1, 2019 to December 31, 2023.
Affected individuals will automatically become part of the settlement class and will receive their compensation through their PlayStation Network account wallet, subject to approval at a final hearing, the date and time of which may change. Any updates will be posted on the settlement website.
How much will the Sony PlayStation settlement pay?
It’s unclear how much each member of the settlement class will receive, though we know that most affected parties will receive automatic compensation in the form of PlayStation Account funds.
Up to a quarter of the $7.85 million settlement will be used to pay attorneys’ fees, taxes and other administrative costs. The remaining settlement funds will be administered equally to each member of the settlement class.
