Sony Bravia 7 Mark II: mid-range but at a high price (2026)

While testing the demo reel, color quality and contrast weren’t great. The mist over the White Mountain did not seem special; The grass behind the fence should have looked greener; The brown buffalo roaming in the field does not seem diverse enough in color. To test contrast, I watched a scene with dark trees in the foreground, but they blended too much into the background.

Another element of color contrast is that dark colors should appear deep and rich, but in dark scenes creator and Awake On Netflix they both seemed very boring. None of the picture modes, including XR Contrast Booster, helped. in awake, The main character is riding a bike at night, and you can see her face but not the background or a man in a blue shirt.

The movie Hoppers On Disney+ it sold me a little more on True RGB. (Though, to be fair, the animated movie with vibrant colors looked great on my iPhone 17 Pro.) The Bravia 7 Mark II’s simple backlighting and mediocre contrast gave Hoppers A more artistic look. Hail Mary project On the Fandango at Home app it looked similarly recessed, reminding me of the matte screen on an art TV.

To test the Bravia 7 Mark II’s casting ability, I streamed it live Dune II Using the HBO Max app. It worked perfectly, unlike the Hisense UR9 Mini RGB, which was a bit glitchy. On YouTube TV, I tested several news broadcasts (which looked a little flat and washed out) and a few 2026 World Cup matches (which had smooth, fluid motion, with mostly bright colors). The screensaver mode that displays still images and artwork appeared too dark with poor contrast, especially when I flipped over some shipwreck oil paintings.

To test the surround sound, I watched the movie unbroken Because it is the ultimate standard for Dolby Atmos. After I connected the Klipsch the Nines II speakers to the TV, airplane sounds, explosions, and voices wafted throughout the room. The same battle scene using the same speakers wasn’t as immersive in terms of surround sound with the Hisense UR9 TV. However, the Hisense UR9’s built-in speakers are much better for surround sound than the Bravia 7 Mark II’s built-in speakers.

Like the picture quality of movies and TV shows, games on this model also lacked impressiveness. I started playing at Vietnam level 007 first light On a computer. This stunningly vibrant segment, with James Bond driving a boat on sunny waters surrounded by rocky cliffs, was a mixed bag in terms of quality. In scenes with the setting sun, the contrast was striking and clear, but when Bond drove into a darker area, the contrast suddenly seemed washed out. The 120Hz refresh rate was good, but not at all as lively, responsive and clear as the Hisense UR9 Mini RGB.
