Located between two conference halls in Mobile World Congress In Barcelona, there’s a road filled with Google’s latest technology — and its coolest robot characters. Here, viewers can step into comfortable, wood-paneled booths and experience the features within pixel, Android and Searching. Welcome to Android Street.
I swung by Google’s setup to check out demos of their latest products and features. I was greeted at the entrance and a brilliantly colored android statue waving hello set the scene.
CNET’s Tara Brown and I hold up our access stickers in front of our matching Android device.
In one booth, I tried on Android XR smart glasses Prototype for the first time and explore some promising use cases. I saw and heard instant AI-powered translations through the glasses while a Googler spoke to me in Spanish. I also followed a Google Maps overlay that guided me along my route without obstructing my view, thanks to the screen projected onto the right lens.
Android XR glasses tap into the Gemini AI assistant.
Hot in heels Samsung S26 launchGoogle demonstrated a new Gemini capability that takes on a more assistive role. You can long-press the power button and ask Gemini to plan a vegetarian tapas tour, for example, and then ask him to drop that information into a Google Keep note, all through a voice command.
Other use cases include Gemini booking an Uber for you, which will be done in the background so you can continue using other apps on your device. Galaxy S26 phone.
Gemini handles tasks like calling Uber or helping plan and blog a trip.
In another room, I ran through a Google system update Research circle Which will simultaneously find all the pieces of the outfit on your screen, and then let you try them on virtually.
After long-pressing the home button and circling the group photo I liked, Google displayed a list of product results for each item. Clicking “try it” created a photorealistic image of me wearing the orange and red pants I was eyeing.
Funnily enough, the AI took the liberty of replacing my real dress and jacket with a black shirt. It’s not the first time Gemini has decided this Play with the parameters of my modest clothingbut hopefully her ability to avoid these missteps will improve over time.
the The search circle update is being rolled out on Galaxy S26 series and Pixel 10 Devices.
These arms were created by artificial intelligence, as was the entire costume.
The Research Service may have done a better job with Patrick Holland’s group.
One of my favorite Pixel features lets you use Apple features Airdrop and Android devices Quick post Defeat Both ecosystems. With just a few taps, you sent a photo from your Pixel 10 to your iPhone, and received one in return. The advantage is Also available on Pixel 9 devices.
Quick Share/AirDrop compatibility makes it easy to transfer media between Pixel phones and newer iPhones.
Seeing new technology is always great, but what I really loved were the Android statues that appear to be cleaning the window of a demo booth. Such hardworking little workers.
I can’t get enough of these little guys.
This ended my tour of the building. At a tech conference largely dominated by monotonous booths, it was nice to get some fresh air, explore some demos, and, above all, duck around cute statues big and small.
