Skullcandy’s bass-boosting Crusher headphones now come with Bose’s ANC technology

Skullcandy today announced a new version of its Crusher wireless headphones that features a few Bose audio technologies Including QuietControl ANC and spatial audio for head tracking. The Crusher line of headphones sets itself apart from competitors by utilizing both full-range and custom bass drivers in each ear cup to boost deeper frequencies. Skullcandy admits that this approach can lead to a loss of sound quality when the bass is boosted too much, but it doesn’t New crusher 1080 anc They aim to address that and improve it with the help of Bose.

Available starting today for $279.99 in Black, Candy, Primer and Cement color options, the new 1080 ANC Crusher features redesigned drivers with a stiffer diaphragm material resulting in enhanced clarity and detail with less distortion at higher volume. As with previous models in the Crusher line, bass boost is fully adjustable using Skullcandy’s mobile app or controls on the headset which now include a more protruding dial on the outside.

The Crusher 1080 ANC will be the first non-Bose headphones to feature that company’s TrueSpatial audio technology with head tracking that works whether you’re stationary or out for a run and a WaveForm audio engine that “keeps the sound full, balanced and smooth.” The latest Skullcandy will also offer industry-leading noise cancellation with Bose’s six-microphone QuietControl ANC technology that adapts to how loud or quiet the sounds around you are. The Crusher 1080ANC also features Bose’s SpeechClarity feature, which reduces noise so your voice comes through clearly during a call, but they’re not the first third-party headphones to offer them.

Battery life is estimated at up to 60 hours with the ANC off, or 50 hours with it on, while a quick 10-minute charge will keep the Crusher 1080 ANC running for up to four hours if it runs out. There’s multi-point pairing to connect and switch between multiple devices, automatic reconnection and wear detection that pauses music when you take off the headphones, and a design that folds flat for easy storage. The Crusher 1080 ANC supports Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio, Low Latency Audio, and Oracast.
