Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event July 2026: Invitations have been sent, here’s what to expect

Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked summer keynote is scheduled to be held on July 22 in London. This mid-year event is usually where the company unveils its latest generation of foldable devices – e.g Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 — But this year things may, for example, take a different shape. Last week, the company started operating Instagram posts Teasing rectangular shape.

A press release announcing the event said: “Samsung will present its latest Galaxy innovations that build on its leadership in foldable devices, combining smart capabilities with new form factors to deliver more personalized and adaptive experiences and set a new standard for the age of artificial intelligence.”

This event comes a few months before Apple’s annual fall event, giving Samsung time to showcase the capabilities of its foldable phone before launching rumors of a foldable phone. Foldable iPhone In September. Although Apple has been rumored to have been working on the iPhone Fold for years, I’ll believe it when I see it. It will be interesting to see what Samsung does with its latest generation of foldable devices in the meantime.

We’ll be on the ground in London to see everything Samsung has to offer, but for those of you who aren’t patient to wait, the rumor mill has been buzzing with anticipation about new devices that might be revealed, such as Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) and Z Fold Ultra. We can even see Galaxy smart glasses. Let’s dive into what rumors suggest we’ll see.

Galaxy “wide” foldable

It looks like the Galaxy Z TriFold isn’t the only strangely shaped foldable device Samsung is working on.

Samsung is currently working on the seventh generation of Galaxy Fold devices, and we expect both the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 to be updated with new processors, some other tweaks, and the number eight on its packaging. But it seems the company’s designers may have gotten bored, as they have experimented with the foldable form factor enough to bring new designs to the market.

We’ve already had the wilderness Galaxy Z Tri-Fold With its tablet-sized display released back in January, and now rumors point to a wide version of the Fold that has a 7.6-inch internal display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. This would make it wider and narrower than the current roughly 1:1 aspect ratio of the Z Fold 7’s inner screen, which would theoretically make the new foldable inner screen better for watching movies without wasting space for black bars at the top and bottom.

There is expected to be a more ‘regular’ version of the Z Fold 8, which is said to follow the dimensions of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, rumors suggest that it will be rebranded with the ‘Ultra’ moniker to differentiate it from its wider-format (and perhaps less powerful) sibling.

Galaxy XR glasses

Samsung and Google Glass have already been announced, but we’re still waiting for more details.

Scott Stein/CNET

Google has been talking about its own mixed reality glasses for some time I/O event Earlier in the summer, including showing off Samsung glasses coming Made in partnership with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster. But details on the glasses themselves have been a bit thin, with the extent of Samsung’s role declining – likely at the summer’s Unpacked event.

So, while we know glasses exist, CNET’s Scott Stein has I’ve already tried some prototypes -We’re excited to hear more details. The glasses will have cameras and microphones (how will they interact with Google’s Gemini AI?), but we don’t know conclusively how much they will cost or when exactly they will go on sale.

There’ll probably be more talk about features and ease of use in Unpacked, and hopefully there’ll be a cool trial section where I can put some on my face and see if my wife can still see me.

Rumors fueled by firmware updates and certification files suggest that Samsung will offer it Two new smart watches At this year’s Unpacked event. The Watch Ultra 2 – the company’s more powerful, outdoor-focused model – is rumored to get a massive 800 mAh battery. This will be the largest of any Wear OS watch and should help it keep track of your road trips long after your legs give up from exhaustion.

The Galaxy Watch 9 is also rumored to be getting a smaller battery, along with both models featuring new processors and potentially updated designs.

Galaxy Ring 2 – but maybe not

Samsung has confirmed that it is working on a new Galaxy Ring phone but it may be too early to see it this summer.

In Forbes a reportSamsung has confirmed that it is officially working on the Galaxy Ring 2, the second part of its phone 2024 Finger-based health tracker. The company’s next Ring is expected to get an increase in battery life, feature more advanced tracking and will likely come with an updated design.

But it’s worth noting that while the episode may be in active development, it likely won’t be released at the Unpacked event in July. While I wouldn’t be surprised to see a teaser of some sort, it’s likely that Samsung will unveil the next Galaxy Ring either at CES at the beginning of 2027 or at Mobile World Conference soon after.
