Now, no bike is perfect. Let’s back up a bit and talk about the fact that the Rev 2 weighs 60 pounds which is, yes, a lot for an analog bike. For an e-bike, it’s pretty average. In a strange way, the fun I had while riding the Judd Rev 2 made it feel lighter than many relatively bulky e-bikes.
Although I like the 20-inch wheel, it seems out of touch with passengers, especially if you’re commuting in the city. Since most American cities are riddled with potholes, 20-inch wheels, shod with 2.1-inch-wide tires, seem a bit inadequate. (This is partly a matter of personal preference, as.) Editor Adrienne So’s ebike It has 20 inch wheels.)
Don’t get me wrong! I never felt like my journey was difficult or uncomfortable, quite the opposite. Judd Rev 2 provides a smooth ride. However, I live in a leafy college town that features beautifully maintained greenways, plenty of bike lanes (ahem…although we could always use more), and an abundance of relatively pothole-free streets. I’d just like a little bigger wheel, especially if I’m cruising around town. However, it is much easier to build a folding bike on a smaller wheel than it is to build a larger bike. Imagine trying to put 29 pieces together in your closet?
