Three months later Pornhub blocked access For new users in the UK, the adult entertainment company says it will allow users there to watch its content as long as they verify their age through an Apple device.
Aylo, the parent company of Pornhub, manufactures advertisement on Tuesday, noting that Apple’s iOS 26.4 release is “its first device-based age verification solution for its users in the UK” which it claims will “better protect children everywhere”.
As such, the company says UK users on iOS devices and iPads (not MacBooks, which use a different operating system) will be welcomed back into the fold.
Last July, the UK introduced a new system Child safety provisions Requiring adults who wish to view pornography to prove they are not minors using ID, facial scanning, or other means of verification. As a result, in February, Pornhub blocked its content from all new users who had not already completed the age verification process.
Apple’s decision to verify ages on the devices themselves is something Aylo has long sought; In November, the company sent letters to Apple, Google and Microsoft urging them to take such action.
Elo has it previously argued Device-based age verification is more secure than age verification through third-party sites or other web-based methods. Apple’s security settings for users under 18 are “some of the strongest and toughest protections currently available to help prevent minors from accessing age-inappropriate content,” the company said in its announcement.
About half of US states have enacted age verification laws, and Pornhub has pulled content from most of them.
