Oura adds clinical care for members looking for solutions to chronic sleep problems


Oura takes a page from the other Wearable technology trends and connecting members to clinical care providers. Oura on Tuesday announced a partnership with the sleep health technology company Resmed To provide more sleep education and connect its members with virtual or in-person healthcare providers.

According to a recent survey conducted by Resmed, More adults are relying on wearable devices To track sleep, but many still suffer from lack of sleep. With the latest update, Oura will now send notifications advising members to see a Resmed healthcare provider if their sleep data shows high levels of sleep disturbances.

Members will connect to Resmed’s sleep health resources, such as educational content, sleep assessment, and virtual or in-person communications with a healthcare provider.

Dr. Ricky Bloomfield, ORA’s Chief Medical Officer, He said in a statement“By combining Oura’s ongoing insights into sleep and nighttime breathing with Resmed’s sleep expertise, we’re giving people clearer, more educated tools to identify when something might be off and to get care more easily so they can better understand and act on changes in their sleep health.”

CNET’s Nasha Adaric Martinez, a certified sleep science coach, points out that while wearables can tell you when something is wrong, most people don’t know what to do with that information. She is optimistic about the partnership between Oura and Resmed because it builds a bridge between knowledge and action.

“I think it’s great for people who may be dismissive of what their body is telling them,” she says. “Oura will report disturbances and trends, and Resmed can then use that data to provide care.”

Oura says its partnership with Resmed will encourage more people to address their sleep concerns with their doctors, helping them get the care they need. Resmed’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Carlos Nunez, He said in a statement: “By partnering with Oura, we are turning vision into action by guiding people through their sleep health journey and making it easier for them to seek clinical evaluation and care if they have concerns about their sleep.”

Members interested in this feature must have a Oura membership in the US and own Aura Ring Generation 3 or Episode 4.
