It appears that Oppo’s Find N5 foldable phone will be thicker than its USB-C port when unfolded, according to images published by the company. The flagship, which we expect to be rebranded as the OnePlus Open 2 for a US release, will also feature best-in-class water resistance.
Oppo has been steadily teasing the Find N5 on Chinese social media network Weibo over the past week. Find Series Product Manager Zhou Yibao now Shared photos Highlighting its size, he added that the obstacle to making it thinner is now “the limit of the charging port.”
Pictures follow Video from last weekin which Zhou compares the hidden Find N5 to a series of everyday objects, showing that it is comparable in thickness to two Chinese yuan coins, a set of four ID cards, or exactly 39 sticky notes.
The company claims that the Find N5 is its thinnest foldable phone yet. This title is currently held by Honor Magic V3It is 4.35mm thick when open, which means the Find N5 should be close to 4mm thick. This explains why it appears to be about half the size of the 8.25mm iPhone 16 Pro Max it appears next to in the photos. For reference, the USB-C port is at least 2.6mm.
In a separate post, Chu said Phone water leakIt boasts an IPX9 rating. It is also rated IPX8 for submersion in water, and IPX6 for low temperature water jets. This month OnePlus 13 IP69 rated, with dust protection as well.
Oppo’s previous foldable phone, the Find N3 (the N4 was skipped due to the number’s association with death in China), was eventually launched in the West as OnePlus unlocked. If the same thing happens again, it should pose some serious competition with the current generation of foldable devices from Samsung and Google. We’ll find out more when the Find N5 launches in China next month.
