Nvidia’s gaming announcements at CES 2026 are all about the software

While the keyword Nvidia in Consumer Electronics Show 2026 Monday afternoon brought the usual parade of robots, self-driving prototypes and massive commercial AI devices, and low-key gaming news was unable to join the party. Given the lack of new gaming consoles, this is understandable. But Nvidia has released version 4.5 of its DLSS upscaling and upscaling technology, bringing dynamic multi-frame generation and an upgraded ultra-resolution upscaling upscaling model that improves high-frame-rate 4K gaming, particularly the latest crop of 240Hz 4K displays. The company also introduced new capabilities for its RTX Remix editing platform and launched apps for Linux and Amazon Fire TV.

Nvidia’s multi-frame generation works within DLSS to extrapolate multiple frames from a single rendered frame and, in conjunction with upscaling, to raise game frame rates and accuracy. (Unfortunately, it only works on RTX 50 series cards.) In version 4.5, it goes from generating up to four frames per rendered frame to six frames per frame, and can dynamically target your screen’s refresh rate to quickly adjust the aspect ratio to generate to maintain consistent speed and latency.

DLSS 4.5 dynamic multi-frame generation will work on systems with RTX 50 series graphics, such as the Asus ROG G16.

The new UHD model has fewer artifacts – fewer ghosting, improved antialiasing, and better clarity – and works with any RTX graphics card. On Blackwell cards, this helps with the image quality that is created multi-frame as well.

G-Sync-equipped monitors will also likely get a new feature, Ambient Adaptive Technology. (It requires an on-screen light sensor, which is rare on desktop monitors but very common on general-purpose laptops.) As the name suggests, it can automatically adjust color temperature and brightness based on environmental conditions.

In addition to AAT, Nvidia announced that the G-Sync Pulsar displays it launched in September 2024 will be available soon. In case you forgot, Pulsar improves clarity in fast-moving games played on high refresh rate displays.

While the company RTX Remix The platform for modifying games using AI-generated assets isn’t for everyone, as Nvidia has added a new capability, Remix Logic, which looks pretty cool. In essence, it allows the game to make decisions about which assets to use – such as specific weather or particle behavior – based on things happening within the game.
