What’s better than a single melting machine? Two of course. At least that’s the Ninja’s philosophy with Launch Ninja Slushy Twista two-in-one slushie maker that can produce two mixtures at once, and then dispense them at the same time.
Ninja hopes to capitalize on the huge success of previous frozen dessert makers, e.g Generous to me and Creamy swirl.
The perfect new gear for summer has nothing but the stamp of approval of Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, who collaborated with the brand alongside fellow Shore star Jenni “Jwoww” Farley to create Exclusive recipes.
She tested the Slushi Twist and chatted with the Jersey Shore star while she sipped a creation she made in the machine. Here’s what to know about Ninja’s latest summer gadget, which has already been sold out twice on Ninja’s website.
You can dispense both types simultaneously for a swirl effect or separately.
The most notable thing is the size. Measuring 17.5 x 11.9 x 16.3 inches, the new Slushi Twist looks almost as large as the slushy machines you find behind a bar holding strawberry daiquiris and piña coladas, and both sides of the machine can make 72 ounces of slush, frappe, or anything from a variety of frozen drinks. It’s not a light machine by any means, weighing about 34 pounds before adding any liquid.
Polizzi told us she’s very excited to use the Ninja Slushi Twist at her beach house this summer with her family.
“I feel like kids will be drinking regular lemonade, and the other side will be vodka lemonade,” Polizzi said. “We just have to call it.”
The Ninja Slushi Twist is an absolute unit.
Each side of the machine can hold 48 ounces of liquid and prepare up to 72 ounces of frozen beverages, as the liquid expands as it freezes. You can create your own recipe or follow one of Ninja’s recipes; Just make sure it contains no dairy products, sugar, or alcohol so the mixture freezes. It’s not a MixerHowever, do not add pieces of fruit or other ingredients.
When you click the Dual Slush Assist button, both sides of the machine start churning, and you can feel the plastic bowls cool to the touch almost immediately. If you want to use only one side of the device, that is also possible.
Each side has matching buttons to assist with slush (what turns on the machine), an additional ice button and a rinse button to help with cleaning at the end. There are also dual chambers that freeze the liquid while mixing it continuously. Even when drinks are frozen and ready, continue running double duty until the mixture is gone.
For the mixture I made, which was a cherry slush on one side and an orange-flavored slush on the other, it took about 40 minutes for it to come together into a slush. Later, when I wanted it to be a little thicker, I put it on the very icy cucumbers, which took an additional 20 minutes or so. So, if you’re hosting a party, make sure to turn on the machine about an hour before preparing drinks for the guests.
After the mixture is finished, add water to both sides, then rinse before removing the chambers to empty the mixture. Being a large machine, it was fairly easy to clean thanks to the rinse function.
If you ask Polizzi, everyone.
“You can try basically anything, and I think it will taste good,” Polizzi said while creating new ingredients to try in the machine, including rosé or sangria.
Serve slushies mixed together or as separate drinks.
I’m inclined to agree with Polizzi, and I think this machine would be especially great for larger families or those who host gatherings often, because it can make a lot of meals in one fell swoop.
If you live in a smaller home or even have less kitchen space, the original is Ninja Slushie Machine It might be a better buy since it’s half the size, $140 cheaper, and can still make slushies, albeit only one flavor at a time.
