Netflix introduced a new kind of… Additional member account: Additional members with ads.
The broadcaster announced the new show on Shareholders’ letter Tuesday before the fourth-quarter earnings call. In the United States, according to Netflix Help SiteAdding an additional member with ads costs $7 per month, and the option is available in conjunction with pre-existing additional member accounts that do not contain ads.
According to the Netflix website, these additional member accounts work Similar to the previous version As a way to pay more for an additional person in a different household. You’ll need an ad-free Netflix variant — either standard or premium — to purchase an additional member slot. Netflix Premium subscribers can add up to two SIMs, while standard customers get one. Additional members have a separate account and password.
Netflix also announced price increases on Tuesday. Now, the additional ad-based member version Costs $1 per month less than the Standard plan with ads and $2 less than the ad-free Plus Member account.
Other than the price, the difference between being a Plus Member with Ads and a Standard Subscriber with Ads is that Plus Members can only watch and download on one device at a time. Standard members get two screens and two simultaneous download devices. Additional members get one profile, and Standard with Ads customers get up to five.
In its shareholder letter, Netflix said it aims to give members “additional choices and flexibility” with the additional member offering. Ad-supported subscriptions represented more than 55% of subscriptions in Netflix ad countries in the fourth quarter, according to the letter, and ad-based memberships grew nearly 30% quarter-over-quarter.
