Microsoft detects its Windows command line editor today. Windows can be accessed using “editing” in the command waist, allowing developers to edit files within the command line. It is part of a number of improvements to Windows developer tools at Build’s Build today to improve the Windows experience for developers.
Edit on Windows It is an open source project by Microsoft, and enables developers to edit files directly in the command line, just like VIM, without the need to switch to an application or other window. Small and lightweight editing, in size less than 250 KB. All men’s options are edited on key links, and you can open multiple files and switch between them using the CTRL + P. Microsoft also added Find and Replly to Edit, as well as matching and regular expression support as well. Editing also supports the Cover of Words.
“What we motivated to build editing is the need for a virtual CLI text editor in 64 -bit versions of Windows,” Crystone explains NagwinWindows Terminal product manager. “32-bit versions of Windows charged with MS-DOS Edit or, but 64-bit versions do not contain the installed in inventive box installed.”
Microsoft also wanted to avoid “How can I get out of VIM?” Meme, so she built his text editor instead of relying on other options available. “Since we wanted to avoid this to a built -in virtual editor, we decided that we wanted a non -average editor of Windows (opposite a conditional editor where new users should remember different operating patterns and how to switch between them),” says Ngwin.
Windows editing will be available in Windows Insider in the coming months. Microsoft has more information about editing on Windows on Jetb Ribo.
Microsoft also renames Windows Dev to the advanced Windows settings today. “The advanced Windows settings are easily controlled by the Windows experience,” says Pavan Davulore, Windows Commander. Instead of being a separate application, the advanced Windows settings simply display an additional change in the main Windows 11 settings interface, including the ability to enable the file explorer with the control details of the GitHub version.
