Microsoft employee disrupts the Satya Nadella’s Build Conference Keynote

His colleague at Microsoft Work and Microsoft Leadership, you may have seen or now heard about my coat in Microsoft Build Keynote this morning. I have been working as a fixed program engineer under AZURE and Infrastructure Systems (AHSI) over the past four years. As a worker in Microsoft – while I had positive experiences here, working and learning with many amazing people – I could no longer stand silently as Microsoft continues to facilitate the ethnic cleansing of Israel for the Palestinian people.

Like many of you, I was watching the constant genocide in Gaza in horror. She was shocked by silence and failure to work and the cruelty of the world leaders, as the Palestinian people suffer, lost their lives and homes while they are pleading with the rest of the world to pay attention and behavior.

Like many of you, I tried to do my role in small ways. Stay in view, share information with friends, signing petitions, and donations. All the time while continuing my work in Microsoft.

Then I encountered no Azure to the apartheid movement, whose members were organizing, taking measures, and speaking regardless of the cost. I saw Ibahal and Vania on the fiftieth anniversary of Microsoft on April 4, and was shocked to hear the words coming from their mouths. Microsoft kills children? Does my work kill children?

I was also shocked by the silence of our leadership. From the silence of Mustafa Suleiman, Brad Smith, Kevin Scott, Scott Gutri, and Satia Nadella. “Why don’t they respond?” I asked myself. “If we are not really guilty, they shouldn’t deny these terrible accusations?”

I began to look deeper. I read the articles, watched the evidence, and I heard the testimonies of the employees who felt terrifying to know that the technology that we build is used by Israel in their mission to erase the Palestinian people.

The key was turned. I came with this information, and I went to work every day that suffers from the ideas of suffering caused by the Israeli war machine in the United States, which is working on Azure. I joined Microsoft because I really thought it was the “most moral technology”. I thought that the work I was doing was to empower people, not to cause harm.

Microsoft’s confession of complicity

Microsoft recently downloaded a blog post, which represents her first official response to fears that many of them were screaming in their ears for years. Their statement is no less than what we demand. Non -transparent audits in our cloud operations in Israel (which are not made by Microsoft itself and an unveiled external entity) does not announce any violations by the company any feeling of relief. In fact, this response was forced to speak publicly. Microsoft has publicly admitted to allowing the Israeli Ministry of Defense, “especially to our technologies beyond the terms of our commercial agreements.” Do you really think that this “special access” is only permitted once? What kind of “special access” do they really need? And what do they do with it?

The leadership rejects our allegations that AZURE technology is used to target or harm civilians in Gaza. Those of us who were noticeable know this is a bold lie. Each byte will be used from the data stored on the cloud (it is possible that it contains the data obtained through unlawful collective monitoring) and will be used as a justification for flat cities and extermination of Palestinians. We do not need an internal audit to know that the highest AZURE agent is committing crimes against humanity. We see it live on the Internet every day.

As one of the largest companies in the world, Microsoft has a power that is not seen to do the right thing: asking an end to this meaningless tragedy, or we will stop our technological support for Israel. If the leadership continues to ignore this request, I promise that it will not pass without anyone noticing it. The world has already woke up to our collusion and turns against us. The provinces will increase and our image will continue to act in a bad condition.

An invitation to work

My future children will ask me one day what I did for the Palestinian people because they were suffering and begging to help us. I hope to forgive me for my previous failure. Many of you have children who may ask you this question today. What will you tell them?

While Israel continues its deadly siege in Gaza, Netanyahu still confirms that it will not rest until Gaza is completely busy, we know that this position exceeds a bad thing. I had not risked my career and livelihoods if I could not believe it to the core of my existence. It is terrifying to speak, especially now. Imagine that your home is demolished while the soldiers stand by the chanting.

Do you not wish someone talking to you?

I realize my balcony as a young man with a slight financial responsibility towards anyone other than the risk of deportation as an American citizen. Not everyone can do what she did without a great danger to themselves and their families. But there is no very small act when human life is at stake. Sign the petition, join the movement, and start the conversation with colleagues, please contribute everything you can in the case.

I know that many of you there are also thinking about leaving Microsoft for the same reasons I am. You are not alone. If you find that it is exciting to talent to work in this company and want to leave, please rely on our campaign to support it. If we keep silent, we will pay the price of this silence with our humanity.

If we look back, I feel shy about my last silence. But as the proverb says: “It was the best time to act yesterday, and it is the second best time today.”
