My name is Ibtihal, and over the past 3.5 years, you were a software engineer on the Microsoft Ai Org platform. I spoke today because after I learned that my Org was working to operate the genocide of my people in Palestine, I haven’t seen any other moral choice. This is especially true when I saw how Microsoft tried to suppress and suppress any opposition from my colleagues at the work who tried to raise this issue. Over the past year and a half, our Arab, Palestinian and Muslim society has been silent in Microsoft, its eagerness, its harassment and duxex, with escaping from Microsoft. Attempts to speak at best fell on deaf ears, and in the worst case, they led to the launch of two employees just to hold the protest. Simply, there was no other way to make our voices heard.

We are witnessing genocide

Over the past 1.5 years, I have seen the constant genocide of the Palestinian people by Israel. I have seen indescribable suffering amid Israel’s collective violations of human rights – random carpet bombings, targeting hospitals and schools, and the continuation of the apartheid state – all of which were condemned in the world, ICC, ICJ, and many human rights organizations. The pictures of innocent children covered with ash and blood, the dress of mourning parents, the destruction of families and entire societies have broken me forever.

At the time of writing this report, Israel has resumed genocide on a large scale in Gaza, which has so far killed some estimates of more than 300,000 Ghazan in the past 1.5 years alone. Just a few days ago, it was revealed that Israel killed fifteen paramedics and rescue workers in Gaza, where they implemented them “one after another”, before they were buried in the sand – another horrific war crime. All the time, “responsible” Amnesty International is working on this monitoring and killing. The United Nations and the International Court of Justice concluded that this genocide, as the International Criminal Court issued arrest orders for Israeli leaders.

We are complicit

When I moved to the artificial intelligence platform, I was excited to contribute to the advanced artificial intelligence technology and its applications for the interest of humanity: access products, translation services, and tools “empowering every human being and institution”. He did not know that Microsoft would sell my army and the Israeli government, with the aim of spying on journalists, doctors, relief workers and entire civil families. If I know that my work in copy scenarios would help spy on phone calls and transfer it to the better the Palestinians (source), I will not join this organization and contributed to the genocide. I did not register to write a law that violates human rights.

According to AP News, there is a “$ 133 million contract between Microsoft and the Israeli Ministry of Defense.”

Regardless of your political positions, is this the legacy that we want to leave behind? Is working on dead AI weapons something you can tell your children about? Do we want to be on the wrong side of history?

Although your work may be unrelated to the cloud that the military uses, your business benefits the company and allows it to contract the contract. Regardless of your team, you serve the Israeli occupation armament company. It cannot be denied that part of your compensation, regardless of its small size, is pushed by genocide.

Whether you are working on artificial intelligence or not, you will be complicit if you do nothing. It is now our duty to take an audio position against Microsoft AI’s participation in crimes against humanity.

That is why I decided to speak today, and why I fell on this important petition to demand the severing of Microsoft’s relationships with genocide. I urge you all to do the same.

Silence is collusion. But work is always a reaction, whatever its size or small. As workers in this company, we must hear our voices, and ask Microsoft to do the right thing: stop selling technology to the Israeli army.
