Meta is actually keeping the VR metaverse running at the moment

When someone uses their phone and you are physically with them, they are with you at the dinner table, yet when you talk to them, they hear nothing, because they have transported themselves through the glowing rectangle into digital space. And it doesn’t have to be 3D, maybe they’re passing media, or maybe they’re in the world of text, but it’s as if they’ve transported themselves. So we’ve always had this internally, at least Mark and I, this very expansive construction of the metaverse as this digital and physical construction.
