Meet Microsoft Scout, your AI-powered coworker who never logs out

Soon your co-workers In Microsoft Teams, not everyone may be human. Scout, always on I have an agent Advertise on Microsoft Build Developer Conference On Tuesday, you can go through your work messages, calendar, and email inbox to automate tasks, reschedule meeting conflicts, and craft professional-looking responses.

Microsoft has more or less built an enterprise agent on top of it OpenClawan AI tool that piqued the interest of San Francisco’s first adopters at the beginning of 2026. Scout is specifically designed to be an assistant for office workers, who can send commands directly in Teams as if the agent were a carbon-based coworker.

Scout is part of Microsoft’s larger agent-first transformation, which automates how workers use knowledge programming and introducing AI assistants into everyday office interactions. “Your company is basically hiring your assistant,” says Omar Shaheen, newly appointed vice president of Microsoft Scout. “The whole point of having a personal assistant is that they work when you don’t.” So, while you’re eating some Doritos and gossiping next to the vending machine in the office, Scout is busy setting aside calendar time for next Tuesday’s all-hands meeting and creating talking points based on recent messages.

Microsoft It is launching this feature with a small group of customers, with hopes of expanding its reach soon. In addition to the Teams integration, Microsoft is also testing a desktop app for Scout. This app is rolling out today to subscribers who have opted into accessing the “Limited” features, and currently requires users to also have an active account Github copilot Subscribe.

If users tell Scout their goals and preferences, the bot can proactively assign tasks. For example, Shaheen asked Scout to always protect family dinner time, so whenever a meeting is suggested on his calendar during that time, the agent flags it and automatically suggests rescheduling options to your colleagues.

With access to your email and messages, an AI agent can try tasks tailored to your business size. Shaheen asked Scout to comb through all his data and prepare a list that would be constantly updated every time someone made a promise to him as well as every time he committed to someone else. Then, Scout can send you reminders about open tickets and draft follow-up plans.

Anyone trying out Scout should expect some difficulties when Microsoft iterations this proxy. Shaheen says his scout — nicknamed Sebastian — sent an email that day. “It was just one big sentence, with no formatting.” It’s important to find a balance between tasks that you feel comfortable performing automatically and what should happen under your direct supervision.

Shaheen still sees Scout as ultimately a boon to all knowledge workers, especially those who are not technical and would not feel comfortable running an agent through Lounge. “Our sales organization internally is probably the largest and fastest-growing group using this,” he says.
