Corporate CEOs: They sure are nothing Like us. You’ve probably seen memes and jokes on social media that make fun of what appears to be a random man’s bite into a burger. Here’s Big Mouth’s backstory.
McDonald’s on Tuesday launched the Big Arch burger, and a month before that, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski posted a video on Instagram tasting it. But instead of eating a 1,020-calorie double-sauce burger, he…well, chomps into it delicately? Like the late Queen Elizabeth II who might have gently savored a cucumber sandwich at afternoon tea?
Kempczinski sings the praises of a big bow and then takes the world’s smallest chomp, insisting he took a “big bite, for a big bow.”
Does he know what “big” means?
Not only that, but the CEO also said, awkwardly patting the burger box: “I love this product.” As if it were an IKEA office. This is America, Chris, we say “burger” here.
Kempczinski’s video was released a month before the burger’s launch, and some commenters immediately began questioning the big burger boss. But with the release of Big Arch this week, the Internet has rediscovered the video.
Comedian Cat Sullivan Recreates the CEO video With a stronger reluctance to taste food, and constant use of the word “product”.
Other restaurant chains were particularly in on the joke. Burger King’s official account cracked, saying, “We couldn’t finish it either,” and slammed the Instagram of its boss, Tom Curtis, eating a BK Whopper with too much relish.
Wendy’s was created Video on LinkedIn It shows its boss, Pete Sirkin, making and enjoying Wendy’s burgers, even digging into McDonald’s famous, often broken ice cream machines. Suerken helps himself to a Frosty and announces, “Oh, wait! Our machines are always on.”
Other brands stack up on the original functionality.
“We will start by testing our cars one meter at a time,” Mini said.
“Is the Big Bite in the room with us?” WingStop Canada’s Instagram account hacked.
“We love the box,” Wendy’s UK wrote.
But at least McDonald’s social media account tried to poke fun at its big boss. The company posted a photo of the large bow, using the same embarrassing term as the CEO, with the caption: “Take a bite of our new product.”
The comment from McDonald’s Instagram account is at least self-aware, reading “I can’t believe this was approved.”
