Lucid Motors is recalling more than 4,000 Gravity SUVs due to improperly welded seat belts.

Lucid Motors appears to have largely resolved its initial quality issues with the Gravity SUV’s hardware and software, but the company isn’t out of the woods yet: It just issued a recall of more than 4,000 Gravity SUVs after discovering a problem with seat belts.

The company told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it discovered, during unrelated safety tests in January, that some of the SUV’s second-row seat belt anchors were not properly welded. This increases the risk that passengers will not have their seat belts fastened during a collision.

Lucid Motors said the problem was the result of its seat supplier changing its manufacturing process “without Lucid’s notice or approval.” The supplier has reverted to Lucid Motors’ original design specifications, and only Gravity SUVs built before February 14, 2026 will be affected.

The automaker says it will have to inspect all Gravity SUVs affected by the recall, and either install a completely new brace or seat, depending on the quality of the welding.
