A couple of years ago, we caught a glimpse of a Keurig store The most exciting innovations In years: A coffee capsule made entirely from coffee by-products, without any kind of plastic. While we’ve been patiently waiting for it to hit our shelves, Italian coffee giant Lavazza has been brewing up a sustainable coffee capsule and appears to have beaten Keurig to the punch.
Lavazza provided Prove Coming to the US market on Monday – a solid coffee tab that the 130-year-old coffee company describes as its most ambitious product innovation ever. The US launch follows a successful debut in Italy and marks the first time the format has been available outside of that market.
Unlike K cups And other traditional ones Individual service formatsTympanic capsules – or “tablets” – contain neither a capsule, nor an individual shell nor a coating. Just pure cold pressed coffee; It is dosed, ground and tamped into a solid form ready for fermentation.
Tabley Coffee pods are made from 100% pure cold pressed coffee – no plastic.
The technology behind the Tab is the result of five years of research and development and more than 15 patents. The concave shape allows the coffee to expand during the brewing process, producing what Lavazza calls “crema plus” – the continuous, velvety layer of foam associated with properly drawn espresso. The machine used to prepare these all-natural pods, designed in Italy, requires no preparation, grinding or measuring from the user.
The launch is a pivot to Lavazza’s accelerated growth in North America.
“The United States is one of the most dynamic markets in the world,” Daniel Foti, Lavazza’s vice president of marketing for North America, said in a press release sent to CNET. “This is our biggest bet in this market to date, and we intend to shape what comes next.”

“Tapely eliminates the trade-off between quality and convenience completely – it’s a true multi-sensory experience: coffee you can smell, feel, and see before it’s ever brewed,” Foti added.
The Tablì itself features a sculpted, sliding silhouette designed for one-touch operation. Accessories include a milk frother and custom storage stand.
The Tabli is similar to a Keurig but with a decidedly Italian flair.
Tabli is available for pre-order at tablicoffee.us For $260. Individual tabs range from $0.70 to $1.15 per tab. The launch package includes the drummer, milk frother, and 60-piece assortment of tabs.
