The device looks like a high-tech brush. It connects via USB cable and takes about four hours to fully charge, then lasts for 60 minutes on a single charge (about 12 individual five-minute sessions). The brush has just one button to turn it on and off, and with the button, you can also switch between the three modes: Gentle, Balance, and Boost. There’s not a lot of information about the different settings, but each one increases the overall intensity of the vibrations, which are felt through the small, round metal bristles that vibrate the scalp in short, loud intervals. These bristles are short and stiff and don’t move, so be careful because they can get caught in tangled hair (more on that below). After the five-minute session, the device automatically turns off.

Make sure your hair is (mostly) clean for best results; You can use the device on dry or wet hair. Make sure all the teeth of the brush are touching your scalp, then brush from front to back and side to side, or in circular motions to cover your entire scalp area. My hair looked noticeably shinier with fewer frizzes when using the serum, but it did make my hair look a little greasy afterward (despite Ladora’s claims it won’t).

During operation, the brush device heats up to 108°F to increase blood flow and allow the capsule ingredients to absorb deeper into the scalp, follicles and hair shaft. However, the effect I felt physically was the vibration. The vibrating teeth resemble a semi-scalp massage, helping to reduce tension and promote blood flow. You felt the tingling sensation you feel when someone plays with your hair or scratches your scalp with their fingers. Microcurrents work with warmth to promote hair growth by promoting blood circulation and stimulating follicles. It was difficult for me to differentiate between microcurrents and vibrations, as microcurrents also produce low vibrations that sound similar.
