Whether you’re looking for a traditional combustion vehicle, a hybrid or an all-electric vehicle, Kia has a little something for everyone at the 2026 New York Auto Show. Wednesday saw the debut of the all-new 2027 Kia Seltos and Seltos HEV, as well as the North American debut of the 2027 Kia EV3 all-electric compact SUV, all of which are expected to arrive later this year. The arrival of these small, and hopefully inexpensive, SUVs is a welcome sight at a time when many automakers are Eliminate their most affordable models And small electric vehicles.
The EV3 debuts in 2023 before going on sale for the first time in Europe and South Korea in 2024. This year, US drivers finally get their turn in the driver’s seat of the subcompact electric SUV. The EV3 is being introduced into the automaker’s North American EV lineup below Let EV6 – One of My favorite electric vehicles On the road today – and will be powered by a 400V version from Hyundai Motor Group Customized architecture for E-GMP electric vehicles. Bumper to bumper, the EV3 is about 15 inches shorter than the EV6, but its more upright silhouette means the small car’s cargo and passenger volumes are comparable (just 4% less).
The EV3 will come in a 201-hp front-wheel-drive configuration with a single motor on the front axle or with a 261-hp dual-motor all-wheel drive configuration. This choice will determine whether the electric vehicle will be offered with a standard 58.3 kWh battery or an 81.4 kWh long-range battery. Drivers can expect between 220 and 320 miles of estimated electric range from the Corner EV, depending on the specific model and configuration. Original EV North American shipping system The charging port enables fast charging of 10% to 80% DC in about 30 minutes with compatible with Tesla Supercharging Network With seamless payment and shipping.
In its most powerful configuration, the EV3 GT boosts output to 288 horsepower and adds the automaker’s Virtual Gear Shift and Active Sound Design — features that allow the electric car to mimic the sound and shift pattern of a combustion car with paddle shifters — improving performance and adding a little fun to the drive.
The EV3 is expected to arrive in the US in “late 2026” loaded with the automaker’s suite of infotainment and driver-assistance technology. Pricing has not been announced, but I expect it to start at $35,000.
Meanwhile, the combustion-powered Kia Seltos has grown up and shined. Slightly longer, a touch wider and more usable where it counts, cargo space now extends to an estimated 64.1 cubic feet behind the first row and 27.8 behind the second row — that’s about 1.3 cubes more than the current generation on both sides. The 2.4-inch wheelbase bump translates directly to better legroom, especially in the back, where passengers pick up an extra inch. Head, hip and shoulder room also improve modestly. The SUV’s ground clearance even goes up, now standing at 8.1 inches versus last year’s maximum of 7.3 inches.
There are no surprises under the hood. The standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine returns 147 horsepower, paired with the brand’s continuously variable transmission, while the optional turbocharged 1.6-liter engine is tipped to perform with an estimated 190 horsepower. The base engine sticks to front-wheel drive but can be optioned with all-wheel drive. This turbo setup comes standard with AWD and an 8-speed automatic transmission, providing a more engaging drive when you want it.
The new Seltos is bigger, smarter and more efficient thanks to the addition of a hybrid model.
For the first time ever, the Seltos HEV will be offered with the option of a new hybrid powertrain based on a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard for the best commuting efficiency, but the available electronic all-wheel drive system — Kia’s first application of the system on a hybrid SUV — adds traction on demand and a bit of power when conditions call for it.
Inside, all variants of the 2027 Seltos also advance their infotainment technology, both physically and functionally. A standard 12.3-inch touchscreen anchors the dashboard, with dual 12.3-inch displays and a dedicated 5-inch climate panel – similar to the setup found in the flagship Kia EV9 and Telluride and a big step up from the current 10.25-inch navigation system. A new infotainment suite offers over-the-air updates, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the board.
You’ll also be able to interact with the Seltos with your voice via Kia’s Generative AI Assistant, which responds to the hot word “Hey, Kia…”. Plus, Kia Connect telematics extends control to your phone – allowing door locking, unlocking, climate pre-conditioning and even remote start, all handled without touching the key. All that said, it sounds like a pretty impressive bit of tech for an entry-level model.
Combustion-powered versions of the Seltos are targeted to go on sale in the second quarter of 2026 and will likely remain reasonably close to the current starting price of $25,000. The Seltos HEV will join the lineup in the fourth quarter of 2026. More information about the Seltos HEV will be available later this year, with official fuel economy numbers and more precise pricing for all three powertrains expected closer to their on-sale dates.
