It’s not just you, Bluesky is down (kind of).


Bluesky’s website and app are still there Struggling on Thursday after experiencing a service outage caused by COO Rose Wang attributed To a denial of service attack.

According to social networking sites Status pageThe issues started around 2:42 a.m. ET on Thursday and have continued since then.

Currently, the Bluesky website and app will sometimes load slowly, and other times will show error messages.

For example, switching to a specific feed within the app displays a message that says, “This feed is currently receiving high traffic and is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. Message from server: Rate limit exceeded.”

Popular feeds like Discover or the official Bluesky team feed have this issue, although users’ personal feeds can be turned on.

Other times, like when you try to visit a user’s profile, the site will just display an error message, forcing you to refresh and try again.

Bluesky protocol engineer Brian Newbold noted around 3:46 AM ET “Oh, our services are getting really rough tonight.”

The company has not officially shared the reason for the slowdown or provided an estimated time for a fix.

Bluesky has not yet responded to a request for comment.

The outages are affecting Bluesky, but other communities that run their own infrastructure on the underlying protocol that powers the decentralized social network appear to be working at the moment.
