iPhone Fold rumor: iPad-like multitasking, but no iPad apps and no Face ID

Apple’s foldable iPhone will come with an iPad-style interface that will allow users to view apps side-by-side, according to Apple. Report from BloombergMark Gorman. Gorman also mentions that the external display will be the size of a small iPhone. The internal display will reportedly come with a wider aspect ratio, similar to Google’s display First generation Pixel Foldbut not the leading foldable phones currently on the market, e.g Pixel Fold 10 or Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Although the updated design could make multitasking easier, Gorman reports that the foldable iPhone will not run current iPad apps. However, Apple is said to be trying to take advantage of the phone’s larger screen space by updating its “core” apps with a sidebar on the left side of the screen. It will also give developers the ability to make iPhone versions of their apps look like iPads, according to Gorman.

Instead of using Face ID, Apple’s foldable device could integrate Touch ID into the device’s side button, as “the front panel is too thin to accommodate the Face ID sensor array,” Gurman reports. This means that instead of a pill-shaped casing for the front camera and Face ID, Apple will reportedly add a punch-hole camera instead. Gorman was mentioned earlier That the foldable device could look like two iPhone Airs stuck together.

Even without the pill-shaped notch, Gurman reports that Apple’s foldable iPhone will still feature a foldable iPhone Dynamic island featurewhich allows users to monitor events in real time. The device will also reportedly have dual rear cameras and will be priced around $2,000.
