Infinite Machine Olto review: A very enjoyable ride

This is a 176-pound e-bike, so you won’t be carrying it on your ride to keep it safe. Instead, you’ll have to live with the fact that you have to park the Olto on the sidewalk or street; You can Lock it Just like any other bike.

But you don’t needs To secure it, there is a motor and steering lock that is automatically activated when the bike is turned off. There’s also a very sensitive alarm that springs to life if someone tries to tamper with the bike (it can be louder), with a backup battery that can run for weeks, keeping the Olto’s GPS and alarm active. If someone manages to teleport it away, you can track its location via the app. (This backup battery recharges itself when you place the main battery back under the seat, but if you leave the Olto unattended long enough and it stops working, it won’t be able to track the car’s location.)

I did a combination of both. I’ve locked the Olto on public bike racks, but I’ve also left it freestanding between parked cars a few times (usually for two to three hours). One time, I got an alert in the app that someone had set off the alarm, but I checked the location and the bike didn’t move. I think someone might have touched it and heard the alarm and freaked out. I took a deep breath and went on with my day, and thankfully, when I returned to Olto a few hours later, he was there.

I’m fortunate to have a backyard in Brooklyn, New York, with access to a security gate, allowing me to keep Olto in a safe place overnight. This has helped a lot with my anxiety about someone stealing or vandalizing it, but it’s also far from the norm. You’ll have to trust your favorite Infinite Machine’s GPS, alarm system, and bike lock, and hope for the best when you park it outside your apartment. (You’ll probably get it in black, which stands out less.)

I’m obsessed with old world charm, I drive a car Fiat 500 And you desperately want to own a Maifeng RM2—But I don’t have a motorcycle license yet, so the Olto fills that gap. It feels more powerful than a regular e-bike but not as powerful as a motorcycle. Really, even if it’s all about the cool, sleek, and homogeneous industrial look, I can’t help but feel like I’m on the Amalfi Coast about to hop on a Vespa when I put on my open helmet.
