I love how thin the Oppo foldable phone is, but I hate that I can’t afford it

There’s a lot to like about Oppo’s Find N6 foldable phone, now that I’ve had some time to test it. It’s sturdy, with a gorgeous 8.12-inch internal display, a 6.62-inch external display, and a new hinge design that creates a barely noticeable crease on the internal display. It even has a triple IP water resistance rating, which is rare for foldable phones and means you don’t have to worry about using it in the rain (or in a dusty room). But my favorite thing is simply how thin it is. At only 8.9mm thick when closed, it is extremely convenient to slip into a pocket.

At a time when we see companies like Motorola, Samsung and honor Pushing the limits of foldable phone design, the Find N6 is one of my favorite foldable devices I’ve tested, perhaps ever, which makes me especially disappointed that it’s not sold in the US, UK, or Europe. You can buy one in only “major Asian markets and Australia”, meaning most of the world is deprived of access to what really sounds like an impressive array of gear. Oppo, if you’re reading this, maybe let more people buy it?

I did manage to spend some time with one of them despite living in the UK, so if you like teasing yourself by reading about sexy things you can’t have, let’s get started.

Oppo Find N6: design and hinge

The slim design is definitely one of the most important things about the phone. It feels much thinner than the 10.8mm pixel 10 pro fold, Although technically its thickness does not exceed 8.75 mm Honor Magic V6 (We’re talking fractions of a millimeter), I doubt you’ll notice the difference. When unfolded, the Find N6 is just 4.2mm thick.

Despite its slim dimensions, it actually looks quite sturdy. It’s made of aluminium, with a hinge that uses titanium and carbon fibre. Oppo says it has been independently tested to withstand at least a million folds, and that its external screen is covered with what Oppo calls “nano crystal glass,” which it believes is exceptionally damage-resistant. Add to that its IP56, IP58, and IP59 waterproof ratings (it can survive submersion in water, high-temperature water, and high-pressure water jets), and the Find N6 is arguably one of the most durable foldable phones ever. I still probably wouldn’t give it to a toddler with sticky jam fingers.

The hinge is specifically designed to reduce creasing of the inner screen, which is helped by the “auto-smoothing flexible glass” that Oppo says is much better at avoiding creasing over time. Does it work? Sure, from what I’ve experienced so far, it’s definitely one of the most invisible creases I’ve seen on a foldable phone. It certainly never got in the way when gaming or watching videos. It’s still there, and under overhead desk lights, it’s more noticeable, but for the most part, it hasn’t been an issue for me.

Find N6: processor, camera, battery, software

Find N6 runs on the latest versions of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processorwhich achieved some impressive scores on our benchmark tests. It ranks high among other 2026 flagship phones that use the same silicon. Daily use feels snappy, and it even handled the demanding mobile game Genshin Impact without any issues.

On the back of the phone is a triple camera setup that combines a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP telephoto camera that has a 70mm equivalent focal length. It’s a solid setup, and although I haven’t been able to test it yet, I’m confident it will take some great shots. Oppo’s camera system Look for X9 Pro I really liked it, with great exposures and accurate colours, so I expect similar performance here – especially since both phones benefit from Oppo’s partnership with popular camera maker Hasselblad.

The phone’s power is 6000 mAh Silicon-carbon batterywhich should be good for a full day of use, as long as you don’t spend all day streaming videos on the large internal screen. Don’t worry if it runs out of power because it has 80W fast wired charging, which will restore power in no time, as long as you have a compatible charger.

It runs on the Android 16 operating system, to which Oppo has added a full set of features to take advantage of the large internal screen, including tools for multitasking across applications. They will even play well with it iPhone N6 owners are able to share files directly with iPhones via AirDrop and even answer incoming calls to your iPhone on the Find N6. It may be useful if you use two devices: one for work and one for play.

Oppo Find N6: Should you buy it?

Do you live in one of the few places where Oppo actually sells a foldable phone? If so, yes. It’s an impressive package, from its sturdy, slim build to its powerful processor. It’s arguably one of the best all-around foldables out there right now, and I’d love to be able to give it the full review treatment to help you buy it, though pricing isn’t available yet.

Oppo may change its strategy, but for now, if you’re not in a place that Oppo sells to, you’re out of luck. Instead, you have to look towards Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 And maybe keep an eye on Honor’s Magic V6, which is also nimble and powerful.
