HP’s new Biz laptops will make your IT staff happier

HP isn’t playing favorites with its new EliteBook Consumer Electronics Show 2026. Initially, it will offer CPUs from the big three chipmakers — AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm — on a single laptop platform. A removable keyboard will make it more serviceable.

For people who shuttle their laptops between external displays at home and work, HP has a whole new idea to lighten the load and declutter your desk: a PC inside a keyboard with what it calls EliteBoard.

Greater processor selection and serviceability

The new HP EliteBook A model I reviewed last yearbut you or your IT team will likely find it easier to service. HP has redesigned the keyboard with deeper keycaps for an improved typing experience, but the bigger news is the keyboard’s top design lets you remove it for easy access to internal components for service or upgrades — or simply replace the keyboard if your furious typing over time has damaged a key. With this easy access and modular design, you can imagine that repairs can be more targeted and less time-consuming, resulting in a longer life for your laptop, which is good news if you’re concerned about ROI or sustainability – or both.

And when you remove the keyboard from the EliteBook For the first time, HP is offering CPUs from all three chip manufacturers on a single platform. Offers the latest EliteBook AMD Ryzen AI 400 seriesIntel Core Ultra Series 3 and Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 series Processors.

Introducing the premium EliteBoard

Now for something completely different, we come to a PC inside a keyboard from HP, the EliteBoard G1a. If you’re commuting between work and home only to drop your laptop into the dock to sit in front of an external monitor (or two) in each location, the EliteBoard could help simplify the process.

HP has basically crammed a laptop inside a built-in keyboard. The benefits are that you can connect it directly to the monitor – no need for a dock – and start working. It’s smaller and lighter than a typical laptop, which makes traveling a little easier. HP estimates that it weighs about half the weight of an average laptop. The downside is that you can’t open the EliteBoard and work (or watch YouTube) during the transfer.

HP hasn’t revealed much about the EliteBoard G1a’s internals other than saying it has an AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processor. It’s not about the amount of memory and storage, but the EliteBoard has dual microphones and speakers, so you can use it to make video calls and hear system sounds and any audio being played. It also includes HP’s Wolf Security for Business suite that provides hardware-based threat detection, malware isolation, BIOS and browser protection, and the ability to remotely lock and wipe the system if it is lost or stolen.

HP is targeting a March release for the EliteBoard G1a. Prices have not been announced.
