There’s a general sense of doom in TikTok feeds these days, and it’s no surprise: It looks like the video service might be just that Banned in the United States as of January 19. TikTok creators present A sarcastic farewell to their Chinese spies They wonder how quickly the hundreds or thousands of videos they have on the service will download.
TikTok itself apparently doesn’t like the idea of allowing its creators to bulk download their videos. You He can Download – in TXT or JSON format – a certain amount of your data, which, according to the support page, “may include, but is not limited to, your username, video viewing history, comment history, and privacy settings.” When I tried it, it didn’t include my videos.
You can also share individual videos — the same way you can any file — but if you have a library of a few hundred or more TikTok videos, this will work great. In this case, it is better to have a bulk download strategy.
To find out how to do this, I went to TikTok and browsed a bunch of videos offering different ways to download your content. I tried several methods and found that three of them were effective and relatively painless. (And coincidentally, all of this has to be done on a computer, not a phone.)
Warning before I start: Being an actual TikTok creator, I only have two TikTok videos posted on my account, which I created as an experiment some time ago. As a result, it did not take much time to download them using any of the methods. If you’re a real TikTok creator, expect your downloads and conversions to take some time.
Several people recommended an app called repurpose.io. This is not a free app – it costs $35 per month or $349 per year. For a short time, Repose.io was offering free TikTok downloads to Google Drive and Dropbox, but was forced to withdraw the offer.Due to high demandHowever, you can still download 10 videos for free over the course of 14 days, so you can try them first.
Repose.io lets you distribute your content on different platforms: just tell it where to upload videos (besides TikTok, it will pull data from Instagram, YouTube, Zoom and a number of other services) and where you want to send them. (Besides Instagram and other services, you can save them to Dropbox, SoundCloud, Google Drive, and other apps.) You can schedule regular transfers, reuse only future content or all of your existing content, and even create clips (for example, if you’re sending YouTube videos to TikTok).
When I tried it, Repose.io easily captured two TikTok videos and transferred them to Google Drive in a few minutes. While it should take a lot For a longer period, if you have, for example, several hundred videos, the interface keeps you updated on which videos have been transferred and how many are left.
The paid app allows you to transfer an unlimited number of published videos to up to five different accounts. It might make a lot of sense if you’re a dedicated TikTok video creator and are thinking about moving your videos to another service.
(to update: As of January 18, DownloadTok appears to be unavailable due to error 503. Another site, Out of the bluemay be available.)
If you don’t mind playing around with the programming a bit, there’s a free way to do that as well. It was published by a consultant called Joan Moxham Helpful step-by-step YouTube video About how to use the Chrome browser console to save all your links in one fell swoop, transfer the data to a spreadsheet, and then use an online tool to bulk download your videos.
Below, I’ve summarized the steps Moxam suggests (and which I’ve tried successfully). She highly recommends doing this using the Chrome browser.
Let goToBottom = setInterval(() => window. scrollBy(0, 400), 1000);
According to Moxam, this scrolls all of your videos to the bottom, making them part of a single window so they can be selected.
Note: You may see a warning not to paste code you don’t understand into the console; You will be asked to type “Allow pasting” and press He enters Firstly. Help yourself; I’ve used both of these codes without a problem.
You can now use the links to bulk download your videos. Moxam recommends a free online service called Download TOKwhich is what I used.
If you are still not sure yourself, you can watch Moxam’s video – she is slow and precise in her instructions. And be sure to check too The associated web page For any updates.
There are also a number of browser extensions that can help you download your content. This special method is brought to you by a TikToker bari. cait – It involves using a free Chrome app in a somewhat roundabout but effective way. You can find directions In bari.cait’s TikTok video; I tried it and it worked well for my job.
There are actually a number of browser and mobile applications available that will allow you to download and save TikTok videos. If you don’t have access to a computer and must use your phone, you may find mobile apps useful, but I’ve tried a few and found them difficult to use, usually limited to one video at a time, and (unless you’re) willing to pay ) with heavy advertising.
However you do it – and even if it should be there Kind of a last minute postponement For TikTok – It’s always a good idea to back up your videos online, especially if they are of personal significance to you or represent a creative work that you want to preserve and refer to in the years to come.
Updated January 18, 2025: This article was originally published on January 15 and has been updated to add the method using myfaveTT and to note that DownloadTok appears to be unavailable.
