Here are the new releases on Netflix in June that I’m streaming

If spending the summer indoors with the air conditioner running and your body firmly planted in the tub of your couch is the only way to beat the heat, I get it. Netflix It does, too, which is why it’s giving fans a slew of new titles to dive into next June. No one will get bored while watching it.

This month, if you’re looking for a series to binge, one of Netflix’s most popular comfort shows, Sweet Magnolias, will return for Season 5 on June 11. Also arriving soon will be Harlan Coben’s I Will Find You, the latest show based on one of the author’s thriller novels, starring Avatar’s Sam Worthington and Severance actor Britt Lower.

There are also two big movies hitting the streamer this month, including Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein’s rom-com Office Romance, and the John Cena-starring comedy Little Brother, which co-stars Eric Andre and Michelle Monaghan.

Here’s a look at the titles available on Netflix that I can’t wait to watch next June. (Look at me, as I sink deeper into my sofa…)

Michael Jackson: Verdict

Why watch: This new film continues the debate over Jackson’s criminal trial and legacy.

More than 15 years after his death, Michael Jackson remains a controversial enigma with a complex legacy. This new documentary series, scheduled to premiere June 3, features interviews with key witnesses who were inside the courtroom during Jackson’s criminal trial, where he was accused of abusing a minor. Although Jackson was eventually exonerated, since then, some of the witness testimony has changed (as the 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland claimed), leading to greater scrutiny of Jackson’s behavior and legacy.

Netflix

witness; The murder of Rachel Nickel

Why watch: This true crime case took years to solve due to a controversial police investigation.

This month on Netflix, there are two new releases each centering around the horrific murder of Rachel Nickel, a model who was stabbed in broad daylight in London in 1992. The only witness to the crime is Nickel’s young son, and the subsequent botched police investigation targets an innocent man who the police then try to frame for the crime. The Murder of Rachel Nickel is a documentary about the years-long investigation into Nickel’s death, and the limited series The Witness is a dramatized version of the same events. Both will arrive on Netflix on June 4.

Office romance

Why watch: Jennifer Lopez knows how to deliver a strong rom-com.

Jennifer Lopez’s acting career has often moved between action and romance, and after fun, high-energy hits like The Mother and Shotgun Wedding, she returns this month with the new raunchy comedy Office Romance. Lopez teams up with Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein in the film, in which she plays a powerful CEO and Goldstein plays a lawyer. Together they have to keep their office romance a secret. It may not be officially connected to any of Lopez’s previous films, but it certainly feels like a spiritual successor to Maid in Manhattan and The Wedding Planner, which is exactly why we’re interested in the film.

Resident Alien (Season 4)

Why watch: This beloved Syfy show deserves to be seen by a wider audience.

Created by Chris Sheridan and based on the Dark Horse comic book series of the same name, Resident Alien stars Alan Tudyk as Harry, an alien who crash-lands on Earth on a mission to destroy humanity. Then he decided to settle in a small town in Colorado, pretending to be a doctor. The beloved series originally aired on Syfy, and seasons 1-3 have been on Netflix for a while; The fourth season, the series’ final, will arrive on June 6.

Netflix

Sweet Magnolia (Season 5)

Netflix has cornered the market with cozy dramas that romanticize certain corners of America; Virgin River makes life in Northern California look like a perfect woodsy postcard, while Sweet Magnolias makes small-town South Carolina seem idyllic. The latest series, which stars Joanna Garcia Swisher, Heather Headley and Brooke Elliott as three best friends dealing with jobs, divorce, new romances and more midlife chaos, returns this month for its fifth season, and the Magnolia family will venture out of South Carolina this season, heading to New York for a new adventure.

The cast is expanding this season as well, and the show now boasts the highest Jamie Lynn per capita of any series we can think of, with Jamie Lynn Sigler joining the cast and Jamie Lynn Spears returning to the series. Also joining the cast are Janice Wesley, Courtney Grace, and John Gabriel Rodriquez. The new season consists of 10 episodes, and you can watch them all starting June 11.

June 18

Netflix

Harlan Coben I’ll find you

Why watch: You love a mystery that’s worth watching.

Harlan Coben’s long-running deal with Netflix has spawned dozens of mystery series based on the author’s works — some better than others, to be honest — but we’re excited for series No. 13, I Will Find You. The new show features a stellar cast that includes Sam Worthington, Brett Lauer, Logan Browning, Madeleine Stowe, and Milo Ventimiglia. In the eight-episode series, Worthington plays David Burroughs, a man serving a life sentence for killing his son but — plot twist! – His son may not actually be dead. The new show is adapted from Cobain’s 2023 novel of the same name.

June 19

Netflix

Colorful book

Why watch: This impressive debut film has been a hit with critics and at film festivals.

If you’re looking for a movie that makes you feel all the things, Color Book is for you. It marks the directorial debut of director David Fortune, who secured financing for the film when it won AT&T’s annual Untold Stories competition. Fortune was given the resources to write and direct the original film about a widowed father (Will Catlett) as he takes his son (played by newcomer Jeremiah Daniels) to their first baseball game together.

Netflix

Isabelle’s voicemail messages

Why watch: There’s laughter, tears, and romance — all in one place.

You might assume that a movie about a young woman who leaves voicemails for her dead sister would be a heart-wrenching melodrama, but Isabel’s Voicemails is less a movie about grief than it is a movie about finding comfort and love in the face of grief. Zoey Deutch stars in the film as Jill, a young woman whose sister Isabel has died, and Jill copes by leaving voicemails on Isabel’s old phone line. When the number is transferred to a new user, real estate agent Wes (Nick Robinson), he receives Jill’s messages and finds them endearing, sparking a romance between the two. The film stars Nick Offerman, Lucas Gage, Harry Shum Jr. and Ciara Bravo, and is scheduled to arrive on June 19.

June 24

Netflix

Julian Schnabel directs the star-studded new drama In the Hand of Dante, a film that weaves together two stories, one that follows a now-New York author (Nick Tosches) who is recruited by a mafioso to steal Italian poet Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, and the story of Dante himself, set in the 14th century as he searches for inspiration to write his most important work. The film stars Oscar Isaac, Gal Gadot, Gerard Butler, Jason Momoa, John Malkovich and many other big names. It arrives on Netflix on June 24.

June 25

Netflix

Avatar: The Last Airbender (Season 2)

Why watch: This beloved franchise continues to be great family entertainment.

Avatar: The Last Airbender remains one of the great animated series for kids and has spawned a sequel series, a feature film, and a live-action spin-off. The live-action series starring Jordan Cormier, Qiawentio, Ian Owsley, Dallas Liu, and Daniel Dae Kim is about to drop its second season on June 25, and the third and final season has already greenlit (and wrapped filming) as well.

June 26

Netflix

Little brother

Why to watch: The combined comedic energy of John Cena and Eric Andre feels right.

John Cena has spent most of his non-wrestling career starring in action movies, but the man has serious comedic chops – look no further than his guest role on The Bear, his SNL gig or his appearances on Trainwreck and Sisters as proof. Cena puts those comedic skills to use in the new comedy Little Brother, out June 26, in which he plays a man whose life is turned upside down when his “little brother” (meaning Big Brothers Big Sisters of America) unexpectedly shows up in his life and needs a place to crash. Eric Andre plays the eccentric, long-lost brother in the film, and Michelle Monaghan, Cherry Kula, Christopher Meloni, and Ego Nwodim also star.

June 26

Chris and Martina: The Ultimate Collection

Why watch: It’s truly a joy to see the loving bond between two of the fiercest competitors in sports.

If you were alive in the 1980s, you couldn’t escape tennis stars Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova, arguably the most famous female athletes in the world at the time. The two women faced each other in 80 WTA matches throughout their careers, and although they were fierce rivals on the court, they remained close friends off the court. Chris & Martina: The Definitive Collection examines the pair’s five-decade relationship and arrives just in time for the climax of the Grand Slam season on June 26. (Wimbledon starts on June 29.)
