in Google I/O 2026 conference New Tuesday Artificial intelligence models And features trickle down from the presentation stage. One, called Gemini Spark, is what Google describes as a personal AI agent that runs 24/7, taking actions on your behalf.
As shown on stage, Spark’s purpose is a bit broad, but it aims to run projects in the background, collecting data from the web and various computers. Google Software accounts (such as Gmail, Docs, Chats, etc.).
The Google presenter provided some examples of how Spark can help. One was to send a business email to the team, compiling information from documents and messages into a summary of wins during the week. The other, bigger task was planning a block party, recording RSVPs, keeping track of who was attending what, and reaching out to people who didn’t respond. Then, Spark can create files to show progress — like an RSVP tracker that updates when it detects email replies in Gmail.

The idea of Spark is to take into account all the little things that you would otherwise have missed. In the example of party planning, some boundaries and considerations can be set to avoid violating the homeowners association rules. Since it’s humming in the background, it will be updated as new information comes in. In another scenario described later in the presentation, Spark can see on your calendar that you’ve been assigned to bring snacks to your child’s soccer game and order food on Instacart to arrive on time.
The presenter showed off more Assistant-focused uses for Spark, such as listening to your brain dump ideas and organizing them into form. Examples given on stage included reminders to reach out to a new friend from a party the night before, or asking an AI agent to prepare a list of everything parents need to take care of for their student children before the summer, listed by deadline. This is in line with other AI features showcased at I/O 2026, e.g Live documentswhich similarly organizes brain-dump nonsense into a coherent text.
Google Spark is coming to the search engine later this year.
Spark is coming to Trusted Testers this week and Google AI subscribers next week, but only to those who have signed up for the Ultra tier — either the new $100 per month tier or the newly lowered $200 per month tier.
For others, Spark will be available in Chrome later this summer, allowing you to use it directly in the browser. Later in the year, Google will launch Android Halo, a dedicated home base for AI agents on phones, and Spark will presumably be included.
