Google is making it easier to import other AI memories into Gemini

After Anthropic updated it A tool to copy other AI’s memory In the cloud earlier this month, the new Google Gemini was introduced Import Memory and Import Chat History features. on desktop which can help users quickly replicate everything the current AI knows about them. To use the Memory Import tool, users would copy and paste a suggested prompt from Gemini into their previous AI, and then paste the output from the previous AI into Gemini, which would let Gemini know their preferences.

The “Import Chat History” feature has users requesting to export all their conversations from their previous AI, which they upload to Gemini in the form of a .zip file up to 5GB in size. Users can then pick up those chats in Gemini where they left off using the previous AI. You can also delete selected imported chat logs from the Chat option in the left menu, or import the entire .zip file as it is listed under Settings.

Google announced that it is also renaming “Past Conversations” in Gemini to “Memory.” Memory import and chat history import are being rolled out to free and paid Gemini consumer accounts on desktop. The new features are also not currently available to users with business, enterprise, or under-18 accounts.
