Google Home’s big update lets Gemini describe live camera feeds

Google Home Prime Announced Anish Kattukaran Several updates to the smart home platform that fix a long list of annoyances and idiosyncrasies. There’s also a noteworthy new addition: the introduction of a Live Search feature for your cameras.

So, instead of Gemini only knowing things that have already happened, they now understand what they see in their live camera feeds. This means you can ask things like, “Hey Google, is there a car in the driveway?”

Gemini for Home now also uses updated models. A change that will improve the quality and accuracy of answers to general questions, and help playback of newly released songs.

Gemini now understands context better too, which will improve how it targets smart devices. For example, saying “Turn off the kitchen” will now target only the lights in the room, instead of all smart devices. Commands like “Turn off all lights” will apply to your current location, and won’t target lights at a secondary location — like a cabin or parents’ house — that you also manage.
